Ýskenderun Port Main Breakwater, Pier Expansion
and Surface Cover Supplementary 1,823,130 tons of rock fill and 418,760 m³
of sand - gravel blanket were used for the breakwater which is 1,500 m. long.
Yüksel was subsequently contracted for the works of the port pier expansion
and complementary construction works.
This package was awarded in 3 contracts
between the years of 1983 and 1988. 400 m. of pier, 17,000 m³ of reinforced
concrete, 8,000 m³ of covering, 1,564 reinforced concrete piles, 3,000
tons of reinforcement were used in the pier expansion construction. On the
other hand, 5,650 m. of steel pile driving, 26,000 m³ of concrete and
700 tons of reinforcement works were executed to cover the port pier expansion
complementary construction.
Concrete surface covering inturn was carried out
using 54,000 m³ of concrete, 111,000 m³ of excavation and 250,000
tons of backfill.
