The system was built with the purpose of supplying the treated water transmitted from the desalination plant at Jubail to Riyadh and Qassim. The main contract was divided into subcontracts and Yüksel was awarded pipeline works of segment I and segment IV in addition to the reservoirs.

Segment I : 20 km. of 2,000 mm. and 206 km. of 1,600 mm. PCCP pipeline and all auxiliary structure works including a 325 m. trust boring with a diameter of 3.40 m. and a telecommunication cable laying along the route.

Segment IV : 208 km. of 1,600 mm. PCCP pipeline and all auxiliary structure works including a 170 m. trust boring with a diameter of 2.40 m. and a telecommunication cable laying along the route.

Reservoirs: 6 water reservoirs each with a diameter of 80 m. and a holding capacity of 50,000 m³. Additionally 11 water reservoirs each with diameter of 56 m. with a holding capacity of 20,000 m³ were completed using reinforced concrete.
