Yüksel Construction Co., Inc. as a member of the Va Tech Wabag (Austria), Serco Group (United King-dom) and Ener Construction Co., (Turkey) Consortium, carried out the construction of all functional and nonfunctional structures together with their infrastructure, supply and installation of entire electrical systems and site piping works and at the same time executed installation of mechanical equipments and automation systems. Yüksel Construction Co., Inc. also takes part in the commissioning and operation of the unit. Two separate plants, namely East and West Adana, were designed to serve the needs of entire Adana for the target year of 2025. Inlet, primary sedimentation, sludge treatment units, overflow and by-pass systems for the target year of 2025, wastewater treatment units for the target year of 2010 and 2015 was constructed within the scope of the plants of the target years of 2010, 2015 and 2025. The treatment type applied in the plant is biological treatment defined as conventional activated sludge method. For raw sludge and excess activated sludge treatment, anaerobic sludge digestion method was applied. The plant, having the treatment output which conforms with discharge criterias imposed by the European Union specifications, was designed to be able to accommodate the expansion of nitrogen and phosphorus treatment in the future stages. Around 50% of energy requirement of the plants, is recovered from biogas resulting from sludge digestion process.
