Yüksel Construction Co., as a member of the "PNW - Cegeleg AEG-Brochier (Germany) and Yüksel Construction Co., Consortium” carried out the construction of all functional and dys-functional structures, site piping works, site access roads, site and landscaping works of plant which is located on a total area of 182 ha. Plant, designed according to the target years of 2002, 2010 and 2025, was constructed for the target year of 2025 for the inlet, preliminary treatment, overflow and by-pass systems, for the target year of 2010 for the treatment process units and for the target year of 2002 for the sludge treatment units.
Treatment type applied in the plant is the biological treatment defined as conventional activated sludge method. For the raw sludge and excess activated sludge treatments, anaerobic sludge digestion method is being used. Eight cylindirical post-tensioned reinforced concrete anaerobic reactors with a total volume of 90,000 m³ were constructed for sludge treatment. The approximate total water containment capacity of process structures constructed within the scope of plant was 500,000 m³. Around 70% of energy requirement of the plant, which has a total 10 MW installed power capacity, was recovered from biogas resulting from sludge digestion process. Digested sludge, obtained as a side product, is turned to cake form and is used for the enrichment of soil in the agricultural areas.
