The project which will help solve Ýstanbul’s traffic problem between Taksim and Yenikapý has been awarded to “Anadolu Metro Ortaklýðý” under the leadership of Yüksel Construction Co., Inc.

The contract consists of two sections :

Taksim - Unkapanı Section This section includes 3,700 m. of bored tunnel, 460 m. of Golden Horne Bridge Pass, 432 m. of viaducts, 54 m. of depressed (with fill), 20 m. of cut and covered tunnel and 2 stations in Şişhane and Unkapanı.

Unkapanı - Yenikapı Section This section includes 5,260 m. of bored tunnel, 600 m. of cut and covered light rail system between Yenikapı and Aksaray, 20 m. of depressed (with retaining wall) and 195 m. of cut and cover tunnel sections. There are two stations in Yenikapı and Şehzadebaşı. The Yenikapı Station is cut and covered and also is designed as a station for the light rail metro. The Şehzadebaşı Station construction is bored tunnel on the platform floors, while the entry and mezzanine floors are designed as cut and covered.
