Kabul - Kandahar Road connects the Capital Kabul, to one of the most important cities of Afghanistan, Kandahar. ARC - Yüksel Joint Venture is building the stretch between kms; 43 and 92 of this road. The type of construction is the rehabilitation of the existing road with the increase of the width from 10 m. to 12 m. The completely damaged asphalt pieces are scraped and the road bed is scarified, mixed with additional good quality material and compacted to prepare the subgrade. On top of the subgrade, 15 cm. thick crushed aggregate base course, two layers of asphalt binder course (2 x 5 cm. thick) and a 5 cm. thick wearing course layer is applied. 260,000 tons of base and 124,000 tons of asphalt is laid. 320 culverts have been extended, 5 bridges have been refurbished and 1 bridge has been reconstructed.
