This railroad bridge was constructed over the lake of Karakaya Dam and is the longest railway bridge in Turkey. It is 2,030 m. long and 60 m. high. It stands on 30 concrete columns formed by 29 steel beams each weighing 366 tons and measuring 65 m. long. The steel beams are placed between the concrete columns and then lifted with hydraulic jacks to their place. In the construction, a floating service bridge of 243 m. of length and 1,100 tons of weight, 11,327 tons of reinforcement and 119,320 m³ of reinforced concrete and (in the foundation) 420 m. of length of piling with a diameter of 70 cm. in rock were utilized. The bridge was commissioned for service on 16 June 1986.
