Söğütlüçesme viaduct in İstanbul is the first pre- tensioned reinforced concrete railway bridge constructed in Turkey. A total of 72 pre-tension concrete beams were used in the bridge sides to carry the railway. The railway viaduct has four rail lines. Larger part of the foundations were made with precast piles as deep foundations while a total of 1,436 piles of 37 m of length each were driven. The station platform section of the construction was based on 168 pretensioned platform beams each weighing 20-30 tons and measuring 25 m long.
