The project concerning the improvement of Units 1 and 2 and the construction of the Ivedik Drinking Water Treatment Plant the contract for which was signed on December 10th 2012, has gone into effect in September 1st, 2014.

The renovation of Units 1 and 2 as well as the construction of Unit 3 of Turkey’s largest and one of Europe’s top 10 treatment complexes, the İvedik Drinking Water Treatment Plant, has been completed with great success.

The facility was planned as four phases in 1969 by the General Directorate of the State Hydraulic Works to provide drinking and industrial water for Ankara until 2020 by treating the raw surface water from the Çamlıdere, Kurtboğazı and Kesikköprü Dams utilizing cutting edge technology. The first two units of the plant, which were completed in 1984 and 1992, respectively, have a daily capacity of 564,000 m3. With the completion of the third unit, the capacity of this globally noteworthy plant has been increased by 50%, making it large enough to cater to the needs of a population of 7 million. The average daily treatment capacity of the plant is now 1,692,000 m3, and will now enable the processing of an additional 20%, bringing the capacity up to 2,030,000 when necessary, with the renovation done in Units I and II. The plant cost 91 million 282 thousand Turkish Lira, including the discovery increase.
