Borçka Dam and HEPP

Borçka Dam and HEPP was designed and built on the Çoruh River, 30 km from the Artvin City in the Black Sea Region, by an international consortium where Yüksel is a member. Borçka Dam is a central clay cored fill and has a crest length of 728 m, it enjoys a 7.785.000 m³ backfill volume, and a 300 MW installed capacity and the eventual goal is to generate 1.039 GWh of power annually. The Civil Construction of the Dam was undertaken by Yüksel - Strabag (Austria) - Temelsu; while its electro-mechanical and hydro-mechanical works were undertaken by Austrian firms Va Tech Elin, Va Tech Voest, Verbundplan and Voith Sulzer. Later on, transfer of the Borçka-Artvin State Highway to over the dam lake is also included into the contract and this is being executed by Yüksel İnşaat A.Ş.
